Description
The Pressure Roller (HP M402)—also classified as the lower fuser pressure roller—is a high-performance compression component engineered for the exit stage of high-speed monochrome laser printers. Situated within the fuser assembly, this roller works in tight unison with the upper fixing film sleeve. While the upper heating element liquefies the loose toner powder on top of the page, this lower roller applies intense, uniform upward mechanical force under heavy spring tension. This compression forces the melted resin deep into the cellulose fibers of the paper, instantly curing and locking the text onto the sheet.
To survive the extreme demands of workgroup printing, the roller features a rigid, solid steel core shaft covered by a thick layer of advanced, high-elasticity silicone rubber. This silicone matrix maintains its precise roundness and bounce under continuous operating temperatures exceeding 180°C. The exterior is wrapped in a smooth, anti-static fluoropolymer (PTFE/Teflon) sleeve. Because the HP M402 series operates at high print speeds (up to 40 pages per minute), any surface breakdown, bloating, or physical wrinkling of this rubber layer will disrupt the media timing, causing skewed prints, frequent paper jams, or loose toner that easily rubs off the page.
