Description
The Pickup Roller 402/426 (specifically compatible with HP roller assemblies like the RL2-0656 or RM1-9168) is a high-grade elastomer rubber intake component engineered for the paper-feeding mechanism of monochrome laser printers and multifunction copiers. Positioned directly inside the primary paper cassette tray, this roller is responsible for executing the first critical stage of the media-handling cycle: using friction to grip the top sheet of paper from the stack and cleanly launch it into the internal registration and imaging path.
Structurally, the component consists of a high-traction, textured rubber sleeve wrapped around a rigid, molded plastic core featuring integrated drive tabs. Over continuous print cycles, the rubber sleeve uses micro-grooves to grab the paper while resisting the accumulation of paper dust. It operates in tandem with a separation pad; as the pickup roller rotates to pull the top sheet forward, the separation pad applies counter-friction to hold back any secondary sheets, entirely eliminating double-feeds and paper jams.
